Vives Ranked No. 2 Recruit in the Nation

FORT WORTH – TCU men's tennis has signed one of the top junior tennis players in Spain, Pedro Vives Marcos to the 2021-22 roster. Vives, who trains at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Palma De Mallorca, Spain, will compete this season for the Horned Frogs. He holds career high ATP rankings of No. 578 in singles and No. 541 doubles.

"We are very excited to welcome Pedro into our Horned Frog family," head coach David Roditi said. "We feel fortunate, as he was highly recruited by most top programs. We believe he will make an immediate impact in our lineup. He brings a lot of international experience at the tour level and he's been well coached at the Rafa Nadal tennis academy for the last 4 years. He has the goals and aspirations we look in a player. His reputation is of a hard-working student and player plus one that treats people well and gets along with everybody. We look forward in getting to know Pedro better and help him develop as a student-athlete while he contributes to TCU academically, athletically and socially."

Vives is ranked as the No. 2 recruit in the nation this season by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). He reached the quarterfinals in two futures events before signing with TCU and even defeated TCU All-American Alex Rybakov on clay in a 25k tournament in Vic, Spain back in May, 2021.

Vives joins the TCU roster as the fourth newcomer, joining All-American transfer Juan Carlos Aguilar, graduate transfer Tim Ruehl and freshman Lui Maxted. The Horned Frogs return four faces from last year's Big 12 regular season championship squad, including two-time All-American Luc Fomba, All Big 12 No. 4 Jake Fearnley, Sander Jong and Tomas Jirousek.

Vives will battle for starts in a loaded TCU lineup. The Horned Frogs lead the Big 12 with five singles players ranked in the preseason ITA singles poll and two pairs in the ITA doubles rankings.
